VICTORIA
TESTERMAN
Master's Level Intern
Providing pro bono services at the Galax office and via telehealth
Victoria’s journey into the field of mental health began during her time as a nursing student. While working at a long-term care facility, she witnessed the profound effects of isolation on individuals, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience sparked her interest in mental health and inspired her to shift her career focus to supporting emotional and psychological well-being.

Victoria began this new path by earning an associate’s degree at Surry Community College, where she built a strong foundation in mental health care. She then continued her education at Appalachian State University—Go Neers!—where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and further honed her knowledge of human behavior and the importance of meaningful connections.

After graduating, Victoria gained valuable hands-on experience working in an outpatient Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) center. In this role, she saw firsthand the pervasive impact of isolation and the challenges individuals face while striving to build meaningful lives. These experiences deepened her commitment to mental health advocacy and motivated her to pursue a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lindsey Wilson College, where she is now in her final year.

Throughout her academic and professional journey, Victoria has cultivated a deep understanding of the complexities of the human mind and developed a passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges. She is particularly dedicated to serving individuals in rural communities, where access to mental health resources is often limited.
Victoria’s mission is to create a safe and supportive space where individuals can explore their struggles, discover their strengths, and work toward peace, balance, and well-being. She is committed to promoting self-care, resilience, and personal growth, helping others build healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Victoria is providing a free support group designed to help adults process adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in a safe, supportive environment.
